Interestingly, the Shirelles' "Dedicated To The One I Love", is on the first week of its second go round here. After charting as a minor hit in 1959, it would score big in 1961. Many think of the Shirelles as having done the original version of this tune. First big hit version, yes. It was first done by the Five Royales in 1957, written by member, Lowman Pauling, becoming a minor R&B hit. It would hit the pop chart in 1961 on the strength of the Shirelles' hit. Also note another cover of an old R&B hit, "Lovey Dovey" by Buddy Knox at number 28. The Clovers did the original in 1954.
