New Home Page!

Redesigned my homepage, y'all! Whatdya think? Haven't reworked the other pages on the site yet, but I'll get 'em done one at a time.

New Song on MySpace

Check out Misfit on my MySpace site. I wrote this last winter. Created the beat on GarageBand, recorded the bass, acoustic guitar and vocal at my house. Lo-fi, baby. Email me, tell me what you think.

You are so original it hurts." --Natalie Illeana

New Record in Progress

I'm recording a 5-song EP. This one's not a Do-It-Yourself like Some Songs I Wrote. This one's being recorded at a professional studio by a professional engineer. And also unlike Some Songs, I'm not playing all the instruments. Bringing in a piano player, violin players and a harmony singer. Still, it will be very stripped-down. I'm also using a professional graphics artist for the artwork. Probably be released in about 2 months. I'll keep you posted.

Here's a picture of me and Julie O-O playing at Gennaro's Lounge on May 23, 2009.

"Rob Roper's music is filled with wry observations of the world around him and us. He shares his unique viewpoint of personal stories and makes each audience member sit and think...'Hey, I've been through that.'" --Robert Mattson

Upcoming Gigs

Sunday, August 2, 2:00-6:00pm. The Open Tap and Grill, 1446 S. Broadway, Denver, Colorado. Outdoors on the front patio! One of my favorite Colorado songwriters, Kathy Briggs, will join me and play a full set. It's a 4-hour set, so lead players welcome to sit in if you know my songs.

Here's a photo of me from around 2002, taken at Herman's Hideaway, when I played with a band called Charon Blue. Some of y'all don't know I used to play rock. I took a sabbatical from that to learn songwriting, so I've only been playing acoustic. But now I'm forming a rock band. Been missing it.

"His thoughtful, yet playful tunes invariably have you tapping your foot to the beat. Loves lost, destroyed and found, along with drinking songs like "The Screwup Song" make for a great evening of entertainment." --KG Morris
"Rob writes songs that are alternatingly sarcastic, self-aware, and heartfelt. He delivers lines with a kind of guarded openness. In one moment he may be cursing the world for all its faults, in the next admitting that the faults he sees in the world are really his. This may sound like heavy stuff but he won't let the moment stand too long before cutting the whole thing apart with some sly observation that leaves you laughing aloud. He's a rock 'n roller and raconteur with an acoustic guitar." --Tim Riordan
