US pop star to perform in Moscow.

MOSCOW, December 11, 1997 (Itar-Tass) - Liza Minnelli, who has become a legend in Russia, is arriving in Russia again four years after her first visit. The US pop star is arriving at Sheremeteyevo 2 airport in Moscow on December 12 where she will give a briefing. Later in the day the singer will give a press conference. The place of the conference has not yet been chosen.

It was advertised in Russia that the pop star would give concerts in the Kremlin on December 13-14. This time Liza is arriving in Russia with a big company. A grandiose show she is expected to give in Moscow involves around 30 assistants. Besides, the actress is bringing along full decorations for her concert programme. The decorations weighing around eight tons will be delivered by a special flight. Costumes which Liza and her partners will change during the show are said to weigh around one ton. Incidentally, Liza and her companions will change clothes in their own dressing rooms which will be installed in the Kremlin concert hall alongside other equipment brought by Liza Minnelli's company.

In short, the Moscow audiences are to enjoy a fairy-tale show which has just been a great success in Germany. Music compositions of the show are based on Liza's new album recorded last year. Although there are no Russian songs in the album, one of them might be presented by Liza if not at concert itself, but during a TV entertainment show "Good Evening" presented by popular host of entertainment programmes, Igor Ugolnikov, who has invited Liza to his evening show due on Saturday. Russia has long appreciated the wonderful talent of the celebrated pop star and now, Liza Minnelli's admirers will take advantage of the opportunity to hand in a certificate to Liza which confirms that her name was given to a small planet. The ceremony of awarding the certificate will be held on board the multi-entry spaceship "Buran." The star from overseas will be accommodated at the Balchug Kempinsky hotel, one of most prestigious hotels in Moscow, and will be provided with a white Lincoln to drive in the city and which will take her to the St.Daniil Monastery she wished to see and on a sightseeing tour. At Liza's request, a visit to a children's house will be arranged. The pop star is also expected to meet Moscow students and her Russian colleagues from the world of movies and theater.

LIZA MINNELLI TO GIVE TWO CONCERTS IN MOSCOW.( ITAR-TASS )

MOSCOW, December 13 (Itar-Tass) - American famous actress and singer Liza Minnelli is to give two concerts in Moscow's State Kremlin Palace on Saturday and Sunday.

It is her second visit to Russia. The star was here four years ago, and since then, she kept the warmest memories of the Russians. The public in the country is wonderful, Minnelli said just after coming out of the plane at Sheremetyevo-2 airport. She arrived here from Paris on Friday. She said that after the recent knee operation it would have been difficult for her to endure a direct flight from New York.

Though Liza lipmed slightly, she assured that she had no problems with her health. Otherwise she could not present her new show in which she moves, sings, plays and dances a lot. Together with Minnelli, participants of the show are about 30 actors. On the whole, the group numbers more than 50 people. The decorations for the spectacle weigh eight tonnes, and there is also a tonne of stage costumes that Liza and her partners will change during the show.

The Moscow audience will see an enchanting spectacle based on the singer's new album recorded last year. Liza with pleasure denied rumours that it was her last concert tour, saying that she did not plan to leave stage. In her 51, she has what to say the audience and they listen to her with admiration.
