Abandoned Twice in Manhattan And now, another Stephen saga story: I want to tell you first, I received my NON-ID info from
the NY Foundling (the letter). And here are some
of the facts that were given to me. 1. My birth date was given as December 25, 1968. (by whom is still a mystery) (the (OBC) original birth certificate from them) The OBC stated that the woman who left me on the steps is the one who knew my date of birth. 2. On February 7, 1969, a woman came into a center for children and told them that my birthmother had left me with her 2 weeks ago. (Abandon#1) It was also discovered that the woman who left me there also worked in a local hospital as a night supervisor. 3. She was
told to bring me to the police because they didn't except children there.
She left me on the steps with a shopping bag with a complete layette.
(Abandon#2) 4. A patrolman from the 23rd Precinct (Spanish Harlem Manhattan, 1 East 104th Street) took me to the NY Foundling. 5. Social workers tried to find my family, but in spite of newspaper publishing’s, none came forth. The newspaper was the Daily News in NYC. I contacted the Daily News and they claim to have no listing or posting of this nature. 6. They learned that the woman who left me was a night supervisor of a local hospital. 7. My bmother's rights were terminated on Dec 17, 1970. I think because she wasn't found. 8. I was legally adopted on Dec 8, 1971 from the NY Foundling. 9. I am registered with I.S.R.R. and with the state of New York, so if you want to find me, it wouldn't be that hard. I do want to be found. 10. I have sent a letter to the HQ of the police department in NY to see if they would send me a copy of the report of the officer that found me. At this point, there's no additional info. NON-ID means non-id. Not once was my bname in the package. It did include my med-records without any I.D. The one clue I did find out is that they sent a copy of my OBC and whiten out everything except some key points. My bmother's name is on the OBC along with the person who abandoned me the second time. (whiten out of course) and my bname. There is another OBC. The OBC from NYC and my amended one has the same number on it. So my next step is to find out what is in the index in Manhattan. I would like to say that I hold no grudges against my birthmother. I don't know the circumstances of why you would leave me behind. I don't ever forget, but I do forgive. If by any God given chance this profile fits you as my
birthmother or the woman who left me on the steps, please contact me at scaldwells99@hotmail.com Stephen b.12.25.68/Abandoned in Manhattan 2/7/69
