On September 8, 1923, fourteen destroyers of Destroyer Squadron Eleven departed San Francisco Bay, bound for San Diego. At Point Honda, now Vandenberg Air Force Base, seven were stranded (shown in red print), and 23 lives were lost. The order of the column formation prior to the stranding is listed below, with the USS DELPHY in the lead.
