The Webmistress

Salutations,

I am the Webmistress, Lady Gwendolen, painter of parallel worlds and alternate dimensions. I hope this website enchants and informs you.

Gray, stone-textured, triskelion medallion

In reality, I'm Traci Cleaver and (since 1985) the wife of Sam Bliden (owner of Ahead of the Class Tutoring Center) who happens to have great chemistry skills and he has a superb understanding of how to run a successful experiment. Besides my work on this website, I also have a personal website (much of it still in construction). Please see a link to it below. On it you will find some of my poetry, as well as the some of my mother's and a former tutor's. The inspiration for much of my art and poetry comes from myths and legends, especially Greek, Norse and Celtic, that have captivated me since childhood. I'm also a fan of J.R.R. Tolkien's writings and of science-fiction. I lived most of my childhood until my late twenties in Portland, Oregon. I met Sam at Portland State. I also enjoy pottery, plants, and Middle Eastern dance.

Webmistress' Design Statement:

I'm a visual person, often expressing my feelings through color when I create visual art and also when I do creative writing. I like to experiment with patterns and color combinations; if you have found any pages especially pleasing to the eye or annoying to the eye, feedback is appreciated. I'd like to know what works and what doesn't. Of course, not all of the images on this website were created by me. The lower half of a webpage contains the credits to their sources. Images created by me are given no credit, although I may mention where I downloaded the freeware font that was graphically altered to create some of them. Unless I state otherwise, please do not download them for your own use, whether personal or commercial; they are a part of the design and feel of this website.

My pages use correct HTML and Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) languages; I've been teaching myself those languages by perusing the Web's HTML and CSS instruction sites. The website should be friendly to whatever browser you use. In my design, I've considered how this site will read without the partial or entire non-display of color, graphics, tables, or CSS. Animation has been reduced to those images which either can unobtrusively blend into a page background, or which have smooth, soft movements. I am also considering accessibility. My design may not be accessible in every instance but I believe I have achieved compliance with what are considered the Priority 1 guidelines. My pages bear logos for both the W3C Valid HTML 4.01 and W3C Valid CSS to show they are compliant in those languages.

Because Ahead of the Class Tutoring Center is a business dedicated to education and learning, I may place links on the index page for organizations that take stands against hatred and bigotry and that promote peace, tolerance, healing and goodwill. I've been given allowance to do so. I myself am acknowledging the promotion of those organizations and their policies.

Graphic credit links may go to sites which express spiritual views and beliefs not shared by most people and many are personal webpages; but none express pornography (as defined by the Supreme Court), hatred or violence. If there are any links to such subject matter on those sites, please let me know. The logos and links are provided because the free graphics were used.

Square graphic using a quote by Baruch Spinoza (1632-1677): "Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice." Quote surrounds a nebula-like triskelion on a starry, ultra-violet/cobalt-blue background.
