"Oops!" Mrs. Peacock was overheard saying as she exited the ballroom holding a smoking revolver. This original design 18" high stump doll took 2nd place in the 2008 Hoffman Challenge competition (doll category) and will be traveling the USA for a year along with other winning entries and they will be exhibited at various quilt and sewing shows.     "Oops!" Mrs. Peacock was overheard saying as she exited the ballroom holding a smoking revolver. Her gown and turban were inspired by the ballet costume worn by Pavlova in the 1912 ballet 'Russian Dance'. The peacock design on the gown is applique with additional decorative stitching and beadwork. Her dance card hangs from her left shoulder and in her right hand she carries the smoking revolver. Although the exposed side of her face shows dismay, the side hidden by her hand reveals a delightful smirk.

"He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not"
This original design was Doris' entry for the Hoffman Challenge in 2007. The Hoffman Challenge is an international competition for quilts, garments, and cloth dolls and is held yearly.  Out of 83 cloth doll entries in 2007  'He Loves Me' was awarded the Curator's Choice and traveled the USA for a year along with other winners where they were on display at various quilt/sewing shows.

"He Loves Me...He Loves Me Not"
10" high, 7" wide.  She is holding a daisy and as she removes each daisy petal she says "He loves me, he loves me not" to learn if indeed her sweetie does love her (very scientific and accurate as we all know !!).  Her hair is made of thrums (a weaver's term), her bodice and left sleeve are embellished with beadwork as are her funky shoes.  One arm is 'tattooed' with a flower design and her eye makeup repeats the flower petal design.

1ST PLACE WINNER
HOFFMAN CHALLENGE 2006

'Pinwheels On My Mind', an original design, won 1st place in the Dolls category for the 2006 Hoffman Challenge. The minute I saw the 2006 Challenge fabric, windmills and pinwheels came to mind. In keeping with the "windmill" thought, her hat is a variation on the Dutch hat girls wear and her shoes are also a variation on the Dutch clogs.

SULKY GRAND PRIZE WINNER!

'Orange Julia', an original design, won Grand Prize in the Amateur category of the "Everyone Loves Sulky" Challenge 2005.  She traveled the USA for one year and was exhibited at various quilt/sewing shows.
'Maybelline, the Maypole Queen' was selected as part of the traveling exhibit for the 2005 Hoffman Challenge.  Maybelline stands 21" tall and is dancing around the Maypole.  In her hand she holds the Maypole ribbons.  Her red hair is accented by a beaded hat.  Her ribbon print skirt is festooned with sequins as is her flowered blouse.     'Bessie Mae Mucho II' took 2nd in it's category at the 2005 Enchanted Doll Artist Conference.
'Painted Ladies' - This original design doll was selected to be part of the traveling exhibit for the 2004 Hoffman Challenge.  Her beaded kimono covers her tattooed legs and she is wearing hosiery with gold threads and brocade slippers.  In her hand rests a Painted Lady butterfly.  Her face is adorned with a butterfly tattoo.  She traveled the USA for a year along with other dolls, quilts, and garments.     'Electra' - The June 11, 2004 edition of the Sun News in Las Cruces, New Mexico had a photo of this doll shown in the Arts section.  This doll was my interpretation of an Elinor Peace Bailey design.  The article said  "'Electra' and 'Extreme Makeover' dolls, created by Fairacres artist Doris Moore, are currently featured at Galleria on the Plaza, 2410 Calle de Principal on the Mesilla Plaza in Las Cruces, New Mexico."      "Margo" won 1st Place in it's category at the 2005 Southern New Mexico State Fair.  This doll is made from a 1990 pattern called "Specs Shinglebritches" and the pattern-maker is "My Sister & I Patterns" from Carollton, Texas.
'Chiqui-Tina' - An original design that was entered in the 2005 Poly-fil "Through The Looking Glass" challenge and won 'Honorable Mention'. The theme of the challenge was to create a doll that is a self-portrait of how the doll artist saw herself (Secretly I imagine myself as one of Tina Turner's back up dancers; that is, once all the laundry is done and the kids are fed! For now that dream is on hold). Doll is 22" tall and is mounted permanently on the stand.     'Victoria' took 'Best of Show' and '1st Place' in the Fine Arts Division at the 2005 Southern New Mexico State Fair.     'Fayette' stands 14" tall. She has button jointed shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. Her eyes are black seed beads. Her cloche hat is accented with silver beading and multi-colored trim. Her bodice is trimmed with sequins, multi-colored trim and beadwork. Her fairy wings are covered in various colors of glitter. She is my interpretation of a Julie McCollough design and won 'Best of Lot' and '1st Place' in it's category at the 2005 Southern New Mexico State Fair.
