EDUCATION

Purpose: To enable members to proclaim Christ's message, to participate in efforts to develop community, to lead people to worship and prayer, to motivate them to serve as God would lead them, and to assist them in a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with our Lord.

Duties: Strive to build a schedule and maintain a general calendar of the dates and functions of the ministries that fall under the Education area. To seek out and train leadership for these ministries. To help organize, support and provide continuing education so these leaders can excel in their position and program.

Member: Elected by the congregation to church council.

Meetings: Usually once a month for council and as needed for ministries to function securely.

Adult Forum

  • Purpose: To provide on-going enrichment for the members that deepens their relation with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and their understanding of their faith. Methods used are Bible study groups, speakers, video presentation and discussion, and special programs.
  • Members: Adults who desire to teach adults the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Meetings: Sunday (September through May) between worship services.

Bible Studies                             

  • Purpose: To provide on-going enrichment, sharing and reflection for members on the Word of God. To deepen their relation with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and their understanding of their faith. A set curriculum is used.
  • Members: Leaders and all adults who wish to grow in their faith.
  • Meetings: Once weekly. Currently scheduled: Wednesday mornings at 9:30 a.m and Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. Check the weekly calendar.

Cradle Roll                                         

  • Purpose: To acknowledge the birth and baptism of all new babies by initial contact at these occasions, and to follow-up yearly on the birth and baptismal date, concluding with an invitation on the third birthday of the child to attend Sunday School. To keep abreast of new members with families and interact with families of young children.
  • Members: Adults who seek to be used by God to touch the lives of families with young children as a representative of the church.
  • Meetings: With the families by visit, phone, card, etc., as the coordinator deems appropriate.

Childcare                 

  • Purpose: To provide a safe environment for children from birth to three years of age so parents can attend worship and educational activities.
  • Members: One paid staff member and volunteers, as needed, to provide proper supervision.
  • Meetings: No meetings are scheduled.

Scholarship                                      

  • Purpose: To award scholarship funds to Glory of God Youth who are continuing their education after High School graduation or receiving their G.E.D.
  • Members: As per scholarship policy.
  • Meetings: In April of each year, applications will be made available and must be picked up by the applicant and returned by a scheduled date in June. Upon acknowledgment of award determination, the recipient will attend a service in July to receive the award.

Sunday School                                

  • Purpose: To teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Lutheran faith through curriculum and special events.
  • Members: Coordinators, teachers, and assistants to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children ages three through sixth grade.
  • Meetings: Classes meet every Sunday (September through May), teacher meetings once monthly, and special events as developed by the coordinator and staff.

Vacation Bible School

  • Purpose: To equip the staff (consists of adults and youth) to reach out to the participants (consists of church and community members) with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
  • Members: Adults and youth who seek to be used by God in this outreach ministry. Teachers and sixth grade assistants for the classroom, kitchen, craft, recreation, first aid and registration helpers, and coordinators.
  • Meetings: Preparation meetings from January-May. The actual program usually takes place in June for five days from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday-Thursday.
