Pieces produced in 1978-1984 and licensed by Jonathan & David Company have smaller heads than pieces relicensed by the Samuel J. Butcher Company and Precious Moments, Inc.  Jonathan and David Company was co-owned by Precious Moments artist Samuel J. Butcher and his former partner Bill Biel until 1985.  J&D closed its doors in late 1988.

The Enesco Precious Moments Collectors' Club began in 1981 with Charter Memberships issued to members joining the first year.  The Charter Members continue to receive pieces that are imprinted with "Charter Member".

The early figurines were darker in color than today's pieces.  In 1982 pieces were produced with a very pale color, then somewhat darker in 1983-1984.  A darker color was favored by many collectors.

The box to "Free Puppies" has added as much as $50 to the value of this figurine, but pay the top price if you want the piece, even without the box.  Most other boxes only add around $3 to the resale value.

Pieces were produced with an embossed mark from mid-1981.  There are fewer Triangle marks (the first mark) than any other mark.

Style/stock numbers did not appear on the bottom of the bases until mid-1982, so No Marks, Triangles and some

Hourglass marks do not have a style number.

Sometimes a mold is changed after a piece has been produced and marketed.  Like 'Nobody's Perfect'; which was first produced with a smile and later changed to a frown.

Many paint variations occur on pieces now since painting take place at more than one factory.
