Height and Weight:Race and Gender control height and weight. Rolls approximate the heights and weights of those races and genders for whom ranges are given, and to provide reasonable values for those not given but possibly implied (or left for referees to guess). Referees may wish to re-roll values they find overly disparate; or allow short fat characters to lose weight (tall thin characters are seldom upset with this combination).
Borrowed from Dungeons & Dragons Players Handbook. © 2000 Wizards of the Coast, Inc. The dice roll given in the Height Modifier column determines the character's extra height beyond the base height. That same number multiplied by the dice roll given in the Weight Modifier column determines the characters extra weight beyond the base weight. For example, Taetril (an elven male) stands 4' 5" plus 2d6. Andy rolls a 2d6 and gets a 9. So Taetril stands 5' 3". Then Andy uses the same roll, 9 and multiplies it by the Weight Modifier Column, 1d6 lb. His die roll is a 3, so Taetril weighs 27 pounds on top of his base 85 lbs, for a total of 102 lbs. |
