Introduction Five Generations, Christmas, 1962 - 1) Henry Thomas Hamilton (1876-1968); 2) Lorena Amelia Houston (1897-1973); Mary Eugenia Patterson (1916-1972); William (Murray) Pearson (1939-); Kelly Lynn Pearson (1962-)
Uncle Henry Hamilton, pictured above, died in 1968 in Dallas, Texas, and was my great-grandmother's brother and when he died he was almost 92 years old. Uncle Henry inspired the beginning of my interest in genealogy and he gave me many facts to begin my research. I am quite sure that he was not aware that he was the 9th great-grandson of the leader of the Pilgrims, William Brewster, who immigrated to America on the "Mayflower" in 1620. In these pages are family histories that connect many important and historical figures in the development of our county. These are, among others:
All of the above families came from England. It was not until the mid 1700's when Thomas Hamilton arrived from Scotland that we have our Scottish heritage introduced. While most family trees tend to focus on the patriarchal side, a large bulk of the Hamilton ancestry traces through the matrilineal side. From these women we connect to important lineages mentioned above plus many others. For this reason the ancestry of the Hamilton family must include many different families and begin in separate places. In an attempt to organize this document into a readable format, we chose to start with the earliest known ancestors to arrive here in America and as they wed, to incorporate that new family into this history. Special thanks and acknowledgement must be made to my cousin, Norma (Ewing) Young pictured above with her husband Richard. Her years of research led to most of the information included herein. A word of caution is appropriate here. Much of the genealogy listings here are incorporated from other records and not original research. Where those records are flawed, so is this document.
