Bud Mullins Dies, 1856

The date of Bud’s death is unknown, but it was most likely late 1856.  What is yet to be researched is the land he was living on and the possibility that he is buried on it somewhere.  Thomas probably continued to live on the property until he died in 1861 and afterwards was most likely buried beside his father.

How Bud and Thomas obtained the land they lived on has not yet been determined.  In reviewing all of the land/deed transactions at the Paulding County Court House, Dallas County, Georgia, from the beginning of records which was from the 1840's on thru the 1860's, there is no recording giving Thomas or Bud rights to the land that ends up in Thomas' estate in 1861.  The land, consisting of 40 acres is described in the estate as being land lot #1042-2-3.  That land, at the present time - 2001, has been subdivided into approximately 20 different parcels.[1]  There are no buildings or other structures left over from that period, so it cannot be determined exactly where their house stood.  The high point is just off the main road which is Pine Valley Road, which continues on a few miles south-east to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  The church, which is over 150 years old, unfortunately has no records going back that far either due to carelessness, or one of the several fires that have happened over the years.  The church graveyard across the street has older gravestones going back to that time, but according to the current pastor, those records do not exist either.  It can only be assumed that Bud and Thomas are buried there, but it cannot be determined.
