Mahalia (Mullins) Hickman

1812 - 1905

            Mahalia Mullins married Copeland C. Hickman probably in Campbell County, Georgia.  From the 1850 census in Georgia till her death she went by the name Mahala.  Her father's will (Bud Mullins) lists her name as Mahalia.  But then Bud could not read or write, so the scribe may have misspelled it.

            Copeland and Mahala moved to Talladega County, Alabama, in 1858, probably after Bud died.  The area where they lived was later changed to Sylacauga County, where they remained for the rest of their lives.
