Notes for Spencer MULLINS: 02/11/2002 From Charles S. Owens [cowens@icx.net] I have been researching the Mullins and Owens families of Rockcastle Co., KY for the past 16 years. My Mullins line started with Henry Mullins, born in VA ca. 1740, and Mary "Polly" Terry, born in VA ca. 1746 - their daughter Winefred, born 1766, married David Owen, born 1759 Halifax, VA. They were married in Wilkes Co. NC in 1780, and they are my g-g-g grandparents. Winefred's brother Spencer Mullins, born 18 January 1775, Pittsylvania Co., VA married Mary King in Wilkes about 1800, they too are my g-g-g grandparents. Spencer and Mary, along with his parents, brothers and sisters, and David and Winefred and their family, left Wilkes Co., NC about 1803 for what is now Rockcastle Co., KY. Spencer and Mary had 9 children and 8 of them had large families. Spencer died in Rockcastle Co., on 1 May 1853, of dropsy, probably kidney or heart failure at age 78 9 iv. Champness MULLINS, born 1778. 10 v. Gardner MULLINS, born 1780. 11 vi. Sarah "Sally" MULLINS, born 1782 in Wilkes County, NC. 12 vii. Rebecca "Becky" MULLINS, born Abt. 1789 in Wilkes County, NC.
