Thomas Mullins II

Most of what I have written on Thomas Mullins II can be found at Thomas Mullins II and Thomas & Lucy Mullins II and Thomas Mullins II in SC.

Listed here for review are some of the events in the life of Thomas Mullins II:

VA - Surry County 1741  Thomas Mullins II is born July 19, 1741 in Albermarle Parish, Surry County, Colony of VA. Albermarle Parish in Surry County, VA, is not to be confused with Albermarle County which was formed in 1744 from Goochland County.
NC - Granville in 1746 to Bute in 1764 to Franklin in 1779 1772  Court minutes order that Thomas Cook be surveyor of road from William Massey's road to Cedar Creek, and that road be kept in repair with hands belonging to Thomas Mullins and Clement Mullins and others. This entry could be a clue that Thomas Mullins I had died and his estate has been taken over by his sons.
NC - Granville in 1746 to Bute in 1764 to Franklin in 1779 1779  Thomas Mullins (probably Jr.), on May 13, is a defendant in 2 suits, the first for trespass, assault and battery, the second for “words” (probably slander).  Jury found non-suit for defendant. This is probably Thomas Mullins II.
NC - Orange to Chatham in Apr, 1771 1784  Chatham County Court Records, May 1784, pg. 70B lists Thos. Mullens as a hand to work on a road from Orange County line to the lick Branch.  Others were William Merrett, William Allen, Mary Barbee, Lewis Wimberly, Henry Hillery, and Absolom Harwood.

NC - Orange to Chatham in Apr, 1771 1784  State Census for Chatham County does not contain the name Mullins. Why was Thomas not recorded?  Had he skipped town and not there for his trial in May, 1785?
NC - Orange to Chatham in Apr, 1771 1785  Chatham County Court Records, May 1785, pg. 112A lists Thomas Mullins and others - debt - Jury found the debt not paid.  On this same page is mentioned Thomas Grigory as a juror for this trial. Thomas Grigory was Bud Mullins' Capt in Rev. War.  There was also a Thomas Grigory, Jr., of age, in Chatham County in 1785.  It is entirely possible that this is Thomas Mullins II from Granville/Bute.
GA - Wilkes County 1787  Tax List - Mullins, Thomas (#88 in Capt John Freeman's District) If this is Thomas II, from Bute County, NC, then he is 46 years old.

GA - Jackson County 1799  Inferior Court minutes for Saturday, August 2, 1799: Jacob Carter vs Thos. & Elias MULLINS. Thomas nor Elias showed up for the court date.  Carter was awarded $87.12 1/2 + costs.
