Post Operative Care Management next topic for Western Washington Rural Hospital Videoconference Series

WWAHEC, the Western Washington Rural Health Care Collaborative and the UW Telehealth Services are proud to present our fourth videoconference in the Western Washington Rural Hospital Videoconference Series, Post Operative Care Management. As many as twelve rural hospitals will host attendees on Wednesday, March 7th from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  If you are interested in attending, please contact one of the co-sponsoring hospitals.  The program's featured speaker, Sharon Tugwell, has 25 years experience in nursing at the UW Medical Center. She cares for a diverse population of patients including general surgery, vascular surgery, transplant surgery (kidney, pancreas, liver), and dialysis patients.  Currently she is pursuing her Masters in the Acute Care Nurse Practioner Program.

This 90-minute program is free to nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, physicians, physician assistants, social workers, counselors, pharmacists and other health care providers in rural Western Washington communities. For information on the series, click on this flyer link, or contact Jodi Palmer, Western Washington AHEC Assistant Director, at 206-441-7137.

Understanding primary care capacity in your community

The Western Washington Area Health Education Center can assist your community in analyzing the capacity of their health service area for supporting primary care providers. The module is referred to as the Primary Care Capacity Model and is helpful in determining primary care physician and midlevel recruitment and retention strategies. Understanding what an approximate capacity is for supporting primary care practices can help local health delivery stakeholders make strategic decisions on recruitment of primary care providers. Having an understanding of whether a market is above or below capacity leads to a better understanding of market share and practice sustainability. Read more about the PC Capacity Model.
