Meeting minutes: January 13 th, 2004 (Secretary: Mikio O.)

Niya S., James B., Bruce M.
Be aware that many things (bowl, bell, etc.) belong to Niya and will leave with Niya.
2/1 to have time slot to say good bye to children.
Morgan and Amelia are working on religion and life.
Middle schoolers are not engaged.
Collaboration with East Rose needs a parent of middle schooler to coordinate.
In the past, OWL kept high schoolers together.
Niya will be available as resource.
5 middle schoolers going to conference at Oregon city (Steve Harris taking them 2/6-7 $10).
When children are in worship, please try to include them.
1st, 2nd Sundays working well. Other Sundays undermanned (January when 2 of 3 involved out of town)

Jessica starts out with cheering up talk.
James will explain how we proceed in forum.
Anne will explain Vision/Mission and introduce Alternatives/straw poll

1. Facility
Debra: partnership with Waverly (10m)
Jessica : pros and cons of Trinity (5m)
2. Worship time: Bruce
3. Leadership and staffing
Minister: Rich (compare with Tim rather than Kit)
DRE: (paying pros to do some?)
Office staff: Jessica (vol or paid)
Encourage people to come up with points we missed.
Debra prefers handouts.
Jessica and Anne like flip charts
Straw poll re 1, 2, and 3 plus asking people “what one or three things make you stay/leave?” (we will hand out a sheet of paper to each participant.)
Next step – Somebody from Waverly and/or Atkinson come and talk
Bruce “How about long term goals like having a full-time minister?”
By Tuesday presenters will bring their materials to Jessica.
Jessica will send post cards to people to remind them of this forum.

Anne “Usually we start in January but will start later this year.”

Bruce pointed out last year “why do we do all this?”
Church book does say one to one canvasing is most effective.
Jessica “No canvas word until after 2/22 forum.”
Starting March and ending 4/25.
Congregational meeting 4/18 or 4/25 (voting and bylaws)
Jessica “will anounce before spring break.”

Membership number needs to be reported by 2/1.
MaryPat knows pledge status. She will ask members (last year’s pledge and how much paid.)
