Board Meeting - Wy’East Unitarian Universalist Congregation
Meeting minutes: October 14, 2003 (Secretary: Mikio)
(Summarized 12/19)
Present: Ann D., Rich A., Jessica M., Debra T., Mikio O., Niya S.,
A ritual for people who have left us is important (welcoming spirit home).
(People who have left Wy’east recently)
Program is having ups and downs. Teachers are working hard but attendance is about 8. Don’t know what to do. Even teachers are not bringing their kids.
Celebration of light: 10 children responded. Not enough. Leaning toward not doing.
Let’s have children back in service. What made us unique is our inter-generational quality. Currently there is no sense of welcoming children in the first 20 minutes. No story. If our focus is adults, why do we keep kids for 20 minutes? Preference: having kids to light chalice.
Mikio will talk to W. cmt.
One idea is to have a child read opening word (Jessica will deal with logistics).
Stone soup
One week, kids learn the story and next week they serve the soup to congregation.
Would like Wy’east to do the work.
Jessica: pro-- good gesture con—over the head?
Debra: go for it. Good community building thing.
Mary H. will reimberse for cost.
