Wy'east board minutes
December 4, 2006
Present: Anders, Barbara, Cecilia, Joanne, Mark
We lit a chalice, checked in and approved the previous minutes.
Next meeting
We are switching to Wednesday meetings, starting January 3.Anders may be able to fly back from Texas in time for a January 17 meeting.
Cecilia's Report
There was a great untapped demand for pastoral care.Cecilia is spending a lot of time caring for members of our congregation.
As a people, our congregation is stressing out about the transition from Cecilia to some unknown minister. The board needs to make sure to help make our church a safe place to experience fear and change.
Search
Speaking of search, Anders will type up the survey results (collated by Mabel) and Joanne will print up giant versions for a future social hour.
Previously, the board and search committee thought a national search would be unnecessary, and undesirable because of travel expenses. We decided there is money in the Search budget to bring out 2 candidates, and the board will find money if the Search committee needs more.
Budget
The letters reminding people of their pledge status were effective, causing a surge in donations.Joanne will go to Europe for Christmas, and Mark will handle all the collections deposits in her absence.
Our special collection for December, on Christmas Eve, will be Esther's Pantry, a food bank.January will be NICWA, the Native American service agency.
We need to do a fund raiser.Coordinating tours may be more challenging.
Newsletter
Barbara will write the board column for January, and Anders will write something for Search.
No nieces or nephews were born during the taking of these minutes.
