Labor Evening

Present: Mark, Anders, Joanne, Barbara, Cecilia

We lit a chalice and checked in.Cecilia talked to us about how different groups within a congregation experience changes at different times, and to be aware that as a board we've been grappling with questions others are just now thinking about.

We approved the past meeting's minutes.

Cash in Basket program

We raised $174 for SMART.Our September charity is Katrina relief, and for October, Berea College.

Cecilia's report

There is a lot of new Lifespan Religious Education stuff starting.We asked her, and will ask again, to work fewer hours in November and February.

Cecilia is going to change the worship format regularly, but not weekly.She'll give us time to get used to a change before changing it again.

We need to assemble a committee on Ministry.We discussed several strong candidates.

Disappeared Members

We sent letters to several lapsed members over 2 months ago, expressing regret that we hadn't seen them in a while, and if we didn't hear from them in 60 days, we'd take them off our member list.

We unanimously voted to remove from membership: Ben W, Mary Pat D, Janelle G, Mona and Roger L.If any of these people return to our congregation, we would be delighted to see them, and happily reinstate them as members.

Search Committee

The board is responsible for selecting 2 members of the search committee.Having asked if they would be willing to serve, we unanimously voted to select Mabel Pool and Rich Hines.

Religious Education Coordinator Contract

Marcia's contract needs to be rewritten so her seminary program will accept her work for her praxis.We will revisit that when the rewrite has happened.

Next meetings

Our next meetings, all at 7 pm in Hyde Hall, are Sep. 18, Oct. 2, Nov. 6 and Dec. 4.
